REEFS Project with an extended period for implementation

REEFS Project will continue its implementation till the end of 2014. The extension of the deadline for its implementation came after an agreement was reached with all partnering organizations from Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine and after receiving an approval from the Joint Managing Authority (JMA) of the Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme 2007-2013.  An addendum for additional 7 months extension of the project’s implementation was signed to the Grant Contract of the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation through its branch in the Balgarevo village, Kavarna municipality with the Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism.  REEFS Project is enjoying the strong support of the experts in the Romanian Ministry who recommend that it be implemented for additional twelve months to the initial two years and in this respect the partners from Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (Bulgaria), Odessa Branch of the Institute for Biology of the Southern Seas (Ukraine), Mare Nostrum NGO (Romania), Ilia State University (Georgia) and Karadeniz Technical University (Turkey) intend to make a second request for  extension this fall. The carrying out of more extensive and complex studies of the effects of the experimental equipment for artificial reefs on the Black Sea ecosystem will be made possible in this way.
